About Tapestry of Grace

Tapestry of Grace is a classical, Christian unit-study curriculum that teaches history chronologically across a four-year cycle — Ancient World, Medieval through the American Revolution, Revolution to the 20th century, and 1900 to current events — repeated three times over a K-12 education at progressively deeper levels. All family members study the same historical period at the same time, with assignments divided by classical stage (Grammar, Dialectic, Rhetoric), so a 2nd grader, a 6th grader, and a high schooler can all be learning about the same era simultaneously, each at their own level.

The curriculum covers history, literature and writing, geography, government, philosophy, fine arts, and Bible/church history as one integrated core, but does not include math, science, foreign language, or grammar. The teacher’s guide is notably detailed and flexible, offering many book and activity choices each week, which some families love for the customization and others find overwhelming to plan around.

Best for classical Christian families with multiple children spanning a wide age range who want to study the same history and literature together, and who are prepared for a significant weekly planning commitment.

Why Families Choose It

One Family, One History

Every child studies the same era at once, each at their own level.

Rich, Chronological History

Builds real connections across eras rather than isolated units.

Great for Uneven Learners

Each subject can be pitched at a different level for the same child.

What Families Love

  • Genuinely teaches the whole family together, from early elementary through high school, at each child’s own level.
  • Rich, chronological approach to world history that builds real connections across eras.
  • Comprehensive coverage of history, literature, writing, geography, and worldview in one core.
  • Ideal for families with gifted or unevenly-developing kids, since each subject can be pitched at a different level.
  • Both digital and printed format options available.

Things to Consider

  • Faith-based content, Christian worldview woven throughout — not a fit for secular families.
  • Bible Translations Used: Not prescribed — specific passages are assigned, but families use their own preferred translation; written by Protestant authors, though alternate reading lists are provided for Catholic and Orthodox families.
  • Significant weekly parent planning and preparation load, more than many other literature-based curricula.
  • Higher price point relative to many alternatives.
  • The sheer number of book and activity choices each week can feel overwhelming for families new to unit studies.
