We built the site we wish had existed.
Honest curriculum reviews from real homeschool families — secular, faith-based, and everything in between. Every review is written to help you choose with confidence instead of guesswork.
Honest curriculum reviews from real homeschool families — secular, faith-based, and everything in between. Every review is written to help you choose with confidence instead of guesswork.
When we started homeschooling, we did what every new homeschool parent does — we joined the Facebook groups, watched the YouTube reviews, scrolled the blog posts, and asked anyone who would answer which curriculum was “the best.”
What we got was a flood of conflicting opinions, sponsored content disguised as honest reviews, and a whole lot of “it depends.” Which, fine — it does depend. But we couldn’t find one place that actually helped us figure out what it depended on — and whether the answer matched our family.
The Modern Schooler is a free curriculum discovery platform built to help homeschool families make informed decisions with confidence. Every review comes from real homeschool experiences, never publishers or paid placements.
We have a growing database of curriculum listings across every major subject, filtered by the things that actually matter: worldview, learning approach, age range, independence level, and price. Whether you’re secular, faith-based, classical, or still figuring it out — you’ll find reviews from families who look like yours.
We are not affiliated with any curriculum publisher. Every rating on this site is earned through real family experiences — not paid for.
We use affiliate links to keep the platform free — you can read our full disclosure here. But our reviews are written by parents, not marketers, and that will never change.

We’re a homeschool family, just like you. We have two kids, a stack of curriculum we’ve loved, and an even bigger stack of curriculum we’ve quietly retired to the donation pile. We’ve made the $200 mistakes so you don’t have to — and we built this platform so the next family can make a more informed call before they click purchase.
We believe homeschooling works best when families have real information and real options, and we think the worldview filter is the most important one on this entire site.
Not the most popular. Not the most expensive. The right one for your family.
The Modern Schooler grows through community. If you’ve used a curriculum, write a review — even if you quit it halfway through. Especially if you quit it halfway through. That’s the review he next family actually needs
