Sassafras Science, produced by Elemental Science, follows twins Blaine and Tracy as they travel the world on a magical zip line to explore different areas of science — a story-based approach that makes science feel like an adventure rather than a lesson. Each volume covers one science topic (Zoology, Botany, Anatomy, Astronomy, Earth Science, etc.) and is designed as a semester-long study, pairing the adventure novel with a student logbook and teacher guide that includes experiments, notebooking, lapbooking, and copywork.
The curriculum is Charlotte Mason-inspired, built around living books and narration rather than textbooks and worksheets, and flexible enough for either a 2-day or 5-day weekly schedule. Each volume can be used as a standalone semester study or sequenced together for a more complete elementary science scope. Audiobook and eBook formats are available for families who prefer audio-based learning.
Kids ask for more — adventure novels make science feel like reading, not school.
2-day or 5-day weekly options adapt to any family’s rhythm.
A genuine car-schooling and audio learner option built right in.
