About My Father’s World

My Father’s World was created by David and Marie Hazell, blending Charlotte Mason’s living-books philosophy with classical education’s structure and a unit-study approach, all woven around an explicitly Biblical worldview. The curriculum is organized around a “Family Learning Cycle”: Discover (preschool-3rd grade), Investigate (4th-8th grade, which cycles through five years of world history and geography), and Declare (high school).

Because history, science, and Bible are taught as one shared package, families with multiple children in the Investigate range can teach several kids the same content at once, with older and younger siblings each working through age-appropriate assignments alongside the same core material. Math and language arts are not included in the core package — MFW recommends and resells other publishers’ math (Dimensions Math for younger grades, Saxon for older), and offers its own Language Lessons for Today, though even that isn’t a complete language arts program on its own. Bible reading isn’t scripted to a specific translation either; the guide simply lists chapters and verses, and families use whatever Bible they already have — the one exception is the Kindergarten level, which includes its own children’s Bible, the Discoverer’s Bible, based on the NIrV.

Best for Christian families who want history, science, and Bible woven together as one subject, who enjoy reading aloud, and who have several children they’d like to teach together for at least part of the day.

Why Families Choose It

Genuinely Multi-Age

One core package covers several grade levels at once.

Faith Woven Throughout

A Biblical worldview runs through every subject, not just Bible class.

Bring Your Own Bible

Families use their own preferred translation rather than being locked into one.

What Families Love

  • Genuinely efficient for multi-age families — one core package covers several grade levels at once.
  • Explicitly Biblical worldview integrated throughout every subject, not treated as separate.
  • Families use their own preferred Bible translation rather than being locked into one.
  • Open-and-go structure with minimal daily prep once materials are organized.
  • Rich, living-books approach that builds a genuine love of reading.

Things to Consider

  • Faith-based content, explicit Christian/Biblical worldview woven through every subject.
  • Bible Translations Used: Not prescribed — families use their own preferred translation; the Kindergarten level includes the Discoverer’s Bible (NIrV, a simplified NIV for young readers).
  • Math and Language Arts are not included in the core package — families must add these separately, increasing total cost.
  • Requires real daily engagement — 30-60 minutes of read-alouds and discussion.
  • Not a fit for secular families, given how thoroughly worldview is integrated across subjects.
