Logic of English was created by Denise Eide after her daughter struggled to learn to read due to dyslexia. It’s built on the idea that the vast majority of English words follow specific, learnable spelling and pronunciation rules — rather than needing to be memorized as sight words — and teaches phonics, spelling, and grammar together as one connected system.
The program has two stages: Foundations (levels A-D) covers beginning reading and handwriting for PreK through roughly 1st grade, while Essentials continues the same rules-based approach through spelling, grammar, and vocabulary for ages 8 and up, including older students who are new to phonics instruction.
Best for families with dyslexic or struggling learners who want a rules-based, multisensory approach with more built-in rigor than a gentler program, and families who want reading, spelling, and grammar taught as one connected system rather than three separate subjects.
