Draw Write Now was created by Marie Hablitzel, a longtime elementary teacher, based on the idea that drawing and handwriting rely on many of the same underlying skills. Each of the 8 non-consumable books breaks complex objects down into simple shapes, with a facing page combining the finished drawing with informational copywork sentences for handwriting practice.
The books can be used in any order — the numbering doesn’t correspond to grade level — and pair well as either a stand-alone drawing/handwriting practice or as a supplement woven into a unit study, since many lessons connect to history, geography, or science topics. Since the books are reusable rather than consumable, families typically use a separate blank workbook (sold separately) for the actual student work.
