Brave Writer was created by Julie Bogart, a veteran homeschool mom and writing teacher who built the program around the belief that all children are natural writers — they just need the right environment to flourish. Rather than drilling grammar rules in isolation, Brave Writer teaches writing as a lifestyle, weaving together freewriting, read-alouds, copywork, dictation, and natural writing projects into a relaxed but structured approach.
The program is organized by age rather than grade: The Wand (ages 5-8) focuses on early writing foundations; Arrow and Boomerang guides (ages 8-17) pair with specific books for copywork and writing projects; and Dart guides target literary analysis for teens. An All-Inclusive subscription unlocks the full digital library. Julie Bogart also offers online writing classes through Brave Writer for students who want live instruction.
Genuinely transforms writing from a daily struggle into something kids enjoy.
Arrow and Boomerang guides connect writing instruction directly to great books.
Flexible enough for reluctant writers and strong writers alike.
